Notice of Postponement, 19 March 2020
The Governments of Viet Nam and Norway regret to announce the postponement of the International Conference on Sustainable Ocean Economy and Climate Change Adaptation, which was to have taken place in Da Nang, Viet Nam on 26-27 March 2020, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Due to the travel restrictions currently in place in many locations around the world in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was agreed that it would be best to postpone the Conference to a later date.
The Conference Organizers highly appreciate the strong interest in the conference from Ministers and Senior Officials from Small Island Developing States, members of the Vulnerable Country Forum (CVF/V20), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and developed countries, as well as keynote speakers, presenters, resource persons and representatives of international organizations and finance institutions, experts from international and national research institutions, thinktanks and global centers of excellence, and civil society and non-governmental organizations.
The Conference Organizers are committed to continued dialogue and cooperation for joint efforts on safeguarding ocean and marine resources, adapting to a rapidly changing climate, and addressing climate-related security risks, building on the preparations that have been undertaken for the conference.
The Conference Organizers request your understanding of this difficult decision and look forward to welcoming all participants to the rescheduled conference once the COVID-19 situation permits.
